FileUp Enterprise
Customer Success Story
Corporate Intranet
A major manufacturing company uses their ASP.NET-based Intranet
to maintain the company's key documentation for each of its
departments.
In this scenario, the marketing department tried to publish
their latest sales guide to the Intranet. But because of the
file size, every time the 400 MB-PDF file was uploaded to the
Web site, the transfer failed.
The IT Department investigated the problem and realized that
ASP.NET uploaded only to memory and could not process such
a large file. To solve the file size problem, the company purchased
SoftArtisans FileUp V4 for the single server hosting of their
Web portal.
Over time, the popularity of the site grew. The IT Department
installed multiple servers in a load-balanced cluster and instituted
strict information security policies.
The extensive use of the portal also led to additional concerns.
The company required that every uploaded file be copied manually
from one Web server to the other for complete redundancy; sensitive
company information could no longer reside on public Web servers
and data had to be backed-up to a disaster recovery system.
To address these concerns, the company upgraded to FileUpEE
to ensure that uploaded content was safely stored behind a
firewall-protected file server and, with minimal script, every
file was immediately replicated to a disaster recovery system.
In addition, all of the Web servers in the Web farm immediately
accessed all uploaded content without manual copy procedures.
